What is the difference between silk twill and silk charmeuse for twillies?
Twill is matte, structured and print-sharp, while charmeuse is glossy, fluid and softer on the neck

For a narrow twilly, twill gives a matte, structured band that holds a knot and prints sharply, while charmeuse gives a glossy, fluid band with a softer drape.
Hand and drape - twill has a firm, slightly ribbed surface and keeps its shape when tied. Charmeuse has a satin face and a dull back, so it slides and falls more softly.
Print on a narrow width - twill takes fine linework and small motifs cleanly, which suits a twilly where the design repeats along 5-8 cm of width. Charmeuse shows colour with more depth and sheen, but fine detail reads less crisply because the surface reflects light.
Bag-handle wear - twill is the better choice, because it resists abrasion and holds a tight knot around a handle.
Neck wear - charmeuse is the better choice, because the satin face feels smoother against the skin.
Twillies are 5-8 cm wide by 86-120 cm long, and both weaves are available at the standard minimum.
