Can I get exclusive rights to a print design so other buyers cannot order it?

Exclusivity is agreed in writing on buyer-owned artwork, and volume determines whether it holds

Yes, exclusivity can be agreed for a print, but it must be set out in writing on the order rather than assumed. The two routes are buyer-owned artwork, where you supply the design and we produce it only for you, and a stock design, where exclusivity has to be negotiated and is normally tied to volume.

For buyer-owned artwork the position is straightforward: the design is yours, we do not offer it to other buyers, and we do not reuse it. For a stock design from our range, exclusivity means removing it from general availability, so it only makes commercial sense at a volume that justifies holding it back.

Buyer-owned artwork - exclusivity applies as standard once the design is confirmed as yours.

Stock design - exclusivity is agreed case by case and depends on the quantity and the repeat commitment.

In writing - the scope, the territory and the period should all be stated on the order or in a separate agreement.

We cannot give legal guarantees about third-party rights in artwork you supply, so you should hold the rights to anything you send us. Tell us at enquiry stage which designs you want exclusive and at what volume, and we will confirm what can be held.
