Are your silk hair accessories machine washable?

No, we do not recommend machine washing silk hair accessories. Silk is a delicate protein fibre, and the agitation and heat of a machine cycle can dull the lustre, cause shrinkage and distort the shape of a narrow band or pre-tied accessory.

Recommended care - hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, rinse without wringing, and dry flat away from direct heat or sunlight. Alternatively, dry clean.

What to tell the end customer - state the care method clearly on the product page and on any swing tag. Returns in this category are often caused by customers assuming silk is machine washable, so an explicit instruction reduces that risk.

Labelling - if you need a specific care symbol or wording for your market, specify it at order stage. We produce the label to your requirement rather than applying a default.

For accessories made from silk-feel polyester, the care position is different and the fibre is always labelled as polyester, never as silk.
