Silk vs satin for hair, and what to stock for the haircare market.
Both reduce friction and frizz versus cotton, which is why hair wraps and pillowcases use them. The difference: silk is a natural protein fibre; satin is a weave (not a fibre) — most "satin" hair accessories are polyester satin. Silk is gentler, more breathable and more premium; polyester satin is far cheaper.
