What is the difference between lambswool, merino and cashmere?

Lambswool, merino and cashmere sit at three different points on fibre diameter, and that single variable drives feel, warmth to weight, durability and price.

Lambswool - the first clip from a young sheep, softer than ordinary wool but still a coarser fibre, so it is the most economical of the three and best suited to wool-blend winter scarves in the roughly $1.5-$4 range.

Merino - a finer sheep fibre with good warmth for its weight and better next-to-skin comfort than standard wool. It resists pilling well and is a practical mid-tier option for scarves and wraps.

Cashmere - the finest and lightest of the three, warmest for its weight, and the most delicate and expensive. Pure cashmere scarves sit at roughly $8-$25 per piece.

Blends are how most buyers balance cost and handle. A 30% cashmere / 70% wool blend keeps much of the softness with far more resilience than pure cashmere, and 5-10% cashmere is a gentle upgrade over pure wool. Blends in the 5-30% cashmere range land at roughly $3-$8 per piece.
