What is a jacquard woven scarf compared with a printed scarf?

A jacquard scarf has the pattern woven into the cloth on a loom, while a printed scarf has the design applied to the surface of already-woven fabric.

Construction - jacquard controls individual warp and weft yarns so the motif is built from the structure of the fabric itself. Printing lays colour onto a base cloth, usually silk or a blend.

Design constraints - jacquard artwork has to be engineered to the loom: repeat size, yarn colours and weave structure all limit fine detail and gradients. Printing handles fine linework, photographic detail and unlimited colours far more freely.

Minimums - weaving a bespoke pattern needs a much larger run per design and colourway than printing on stock fabric, because the loom setup is dedicated to that artwork. Printed digital runs start from 20-100 pieces per design.

Which look suits which market - jacquard reads as a heavier, more textured, more premium winter accessory and suits classic and heritage ranges. Printing suits fashion-led, fast-turnover ranges where colour and artwork change often.
