What edge finishes are available for cotton bandanas?

Cotton bandanas are normally finished with an overlock, a rolled hem or a hand-rolled hem. The choice is mainly a cost and positioning decision.

Overlock - a stitched, slightly raised edge. It is the fastest and least expensive finish, hard-wearing, and the standard look for utility and promotional bandanas.

Rolled hem - the raw edge is folded and stitched to give a neat, narrow finish. It sits between overlock and hand-rolling on cost and looks more considered on a retail shelf.

Hand-rolled hem - the edge is rolled and stitched by hand for a fine, soft finish with no visible machine line. It is the most labour-intensive option and the most expensive, and it suits higher price points and lighter fabrics.

On heavier cotton the hand-rolled edge is bulkier and less crisp, so rolled or overlock often looks better. On lighter cotton the hand-rolled finish shows its advantage.

Tell us your target retail price and the fabric weight, and we will recommend the finish that fits. Exact edge width and stitch specification are confirmed at sample stage.
