Can you make a shawl with a reversible two-colour design?

Yes. A reversible two-colour shawl can be made either by double-face weaving, where two fabric faces are woven together and joined at the edges, or by double-sided printing, where both faces are printed separately. The method you choose affects the minimum and the price.

Double-face weaving - two colours or two different fabrics are woven as one cloth, giving a clean reversible finish with no wrong side. It uses more yarn and loom time, so the minimum is higher than a standard shawl and the price reflects the extra construction.

Double-sided printing - both faces are printed, usually with the same design in two colourways or a complementary pattern. This is more economical than double-face weaving at lower volumes, but the reverse side may show slight show-through on lighter fabrics.

Minimum and cost - both methods start from the standard 20 pieces per colour per design, but double-face weaving is most economic at larger runs. Exact minimums and prices are confirmed at sample stage once we know the size, fabric and colourways.

Send us the two colours and the shawl size and we will recommend the most suitable construction.
