Can you add tassels or fringing to a shawl?
Twisted tassels and cut fringe can both be added, with trim type affecting fabric use and packing

Yes, we can add tassels or fringing to a shawl. The two main options are a twisted tassel and a cut fringe, and the choice affects how the trim is attached, how much fabric the shawl consumes and how it packs.
Twisted tassel - yarn is twisted into a cord and knotted or stitched at the shawl edge. It reads as a more formal finish and adds hand work, so it carries a higher unit cost than a cut fringe.
Cut fringe - the fringe is formed from the shawl's own warp ends or from a separate yarn stitched along the edge. It is the simpler and cheaper option and suits a relaxed, everyday look.
Fabric consumption - a self-fringe is taken from the woven length, so the shawl is cut longer to allow for it. An applied trim is a separate component. Either way the trim is quoted with the shawl, not as a free addition.
Packing - trims crush easily. Tell us at order stage if the shawl is going straight to retail, and we will pack so the fringe or tassel is not compressed in the carton.
