Are your scarves pre-shrunk, and will they shrink after washing?

Natural fibres can shrink unless pre-shrunk; specify your requirement so it is built into the order

Whether a scarf is pre-shrunk depends on the finishing route agreed for the order, and shrinkage is a normal characteristic of natural fibres such as silk, cashmere, wool and cotton. Untreated fabric will move more in the first wash than fabric that has been through a controlled finishing process.

We do not publish a single shrinkage figure because it varies with fibre, weave, weight and the finishing method used. The exact behaviour is confirmed at sample stage, where you can wash a sample under your own care conditions and measure the result before committing to bulk.

If shrinkage matters for your market, state the requirement when you enquire. We can build a pre-shrinking or controlled-relaxation step into the finishing specification, and the sample you approve will reflect that route.

Care advice to pass on - hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, do not wring, dry flat away from direct heat, and iron on the reverse. These habits limit movement in the fibre and protect the hand feel.

For blends, the wool or cashmere content usually drives shrinkage more than the silk content, so the blend ratio should be part of the same conversation.
