What is a pashmina shawl?

Originally, pashmina referred to the finest cashmere from high-altitude goats. Today the word is used more loosely to mean a soft, oversized shawl — most often a cashmere or cashmere-blend wrap, though many market "pashminas" are actually viscose or acrylic.
