What is the difference between 6A and 5A mulberry silk?

Mulberry silk is graded A to 6A by the length and uniformity of the continuous filament. 6A uses the longest, most even filaments — the smoothest and strongest fabric, with the highest lustre and price. 5A is very close, with marginally shorter or less uniform filaments; it is slightly cheaper and still excellent. Lower grades (2A–3A) are coarser and less even.

For a luxury scarf where feel is the selling point, specify 6A. For a value line that must still feel good, 5A is a smart saving. We stock both, and label each silk scarf with its grade so you can make an honest comparison — full guidance in our silk grades guide.
